Depression is the most common type of mental health issue – one in four women and one in six men will suffer from a depressive episode at some point in their lives.
There are many types of depression all with slightly different symptoms which may require varying treatments. Mental Health issues are complicated illnesses that can involve a number of contributing factors such as: genes, environment, diet, lifestyle, brain chemicals, psychology and personality. A number of mental health disorders have depression as a key feature.
It is normal to be ‘depressed’ or feel sad when you experience a major disaster or have suffered a severe loss. However, you should see your doctor if you are depressed or feeling down for more than two weeks.
When booking your appointment, please ask the receptionist to book a double appointment with your doctor.
